Sarah McLachlan, Tegan and Sara, Diamond Café, Mae Moore, and the Cheesecake Burlesque Revue have all performed at the Belfry. Local jazz legends Louise Rose and George Essihos have recorded concert albums at the theatre.

We get many requests to book one of our spaces. Unfortunately, spaces are usually not available from mid-August to mid-May (The BMO Studio is our rehearsal hall, and in the Mainstage, we will be building the set). Before you inquire about availability, please have a look at our events calendar.

If your dates appear to work, please complete a Rental Request Form, and you will be contacted by Mike Ford, our Director of Production & Operations, at mike.ford(at)belfry.bc.ca. We get dozens of requests; please be patient.

Our Spaces

The Stewart Theatre

The Stewart Theatre is a handsomely restored performance space with an elevated thrust stage, heritage features and seating on two levels; making it an extraordinarily unique, acoustic and intimate venue.

BMO Theatre

The Studio is a “black box” performance space with flexible raked seating and a floor-level playing area. Seating risers reconfigure and large windows reveal for rehearsal, workshop or reception functions.

Lobby

This classically restored room acts as the lobby for both performance spaces and also serves independently as a vibrant reception space. On its perimeter are a full-service concession, box office, washrooms and an exterior courtyard featuring illuminated heritage stained glass.

Studio B

Studio B is an artfully designed meeting room complete with original art and halogen lighting. It has its own street level entrance, facilities and full-service concession. It also serves as a comfortable workshop space.

Technical Specifications

The Belfry is a beautifully restored 19th century Church, Chapel, and attached buildings, located in Victoria’s heritage Fernwood neighborhood, adjacent to Downtown Victoria. It is a wheelchair-accessible, climate-controlled complex with two theatre venues, a large lobby, reception hall, and production facilities. More specific details and rental rates are listed below, according to venue. All rentals are subject to the Belfry Theatre Rental Policies.
