Virtual Meeting for IBPOC Artists & Cultural Administrators in the Capital Regional District

Date posted: May 19, 2020

Are you an artist or a cultural administrator who identifies as a member of the Indigenous, Black and People of Colour (IBPOC) community? Do you live on the south end of Vancouver Island?

If so, you are invited to attend a virtual meeting on

Thursday, June 11, 2020

for IBPOC artists and cultural administrators of all disciplines—theatre, dance, music, opera, visual art and literary arts—living on the south end of Vancouver Island.

This gathering is an opportunity for you to meet other IBPOC cultural administrators and artists, and to share the challenges you face and identify your needs. It is an opportunity for cultural organizations and those who support the IBPOC community to listen to your thoughts and feelings. This is a first step in determining ways of moving forward towards greater inclusivity in the arts in our region.

The Belfry Theatre and our partners: the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA), Here Magazine, First Peoples’ Cultural Council, and Primary Colours recognize that, in many cases, extra effort is required to ensure the inclusion of IBPOC artists and administrators in the cultural ecology of this region. Our goal with this initiative is to help support IBPOC creators and managers by offering a safe space where you can gather, share, support one another, and chart a more inclusive future.

Please join us if you are able.  This is the first step:  introductions via ZOOM.

If you think you might join us—please respond “YES” to the email address below—Subject Line:  JUNE 11—and we will soon send you more information.

Our thanks to our partners
