Trajectory of Desire (a work in progress)

Jo Leslie

Show Info

Trajectory of Desire is part of our online 2021 SPARK Festival (January 20 – 23).

Trajectory of Desire is an ode to Older Women in the form of poetry, monologues and scenes. From interviews with women aged 60 to 95 years, her own life and imagination Jo Leslie brings to the stage over 60 characters who grapple with the big questions of love, sex, friendship, family and death. This is a loving attempt to shatter myths about women and ageing. The script is still in development.

Jo consciously chose to interview only Eurocentric women (of her own race) as she cannot assume to tell stories of Indigenous or women of colour.

Jo gratefully acknowledges the support of all the women who so willingly shared their stories and opinions, The Belfry’s New Incubator Project, Theatre Skam and The Canada Council for the Arts.
