Education Coordinator

Reports to Artistic Director. Part-time Seasonal position

The position is responsible for the administration of the Belfry’s Education programs, and is a co-facilitator of our high school program, B101 ( This is currently an hourly paid position with an estimated 400 hours per season (August through mid- May / average of 10hrs/wk). Hours of work are partially flexible, however attendance at B101 events is required and availability for Visiting Artist Program may also be required from time to time.

Principal Responsibilities:

Planning, recruiting and reporting on B101 Program including:

> Pre-planning

> Recruitment talks at local area schools & follow-up

> Application processing

> Run B101 program including:

  • > Planning session activities
  • > Reviewing participant journals
  • > Coordination of guest instructors
  • > Coordination & facilitation of post-performance talkbacks
  • > Direction of B301 creation and performance

> Final annual program review including any recommendations

Coordinate Visiting Artists Program

> University of Victoria Theatre Dept.

> Canadian College of Performing Arts (potential)

Assist where possible and necessary with school matinee groups

Other ad hoc education programs/connections

Qualifications:  Post-secondary education is required. Candidates with post-secondary education in the performing arts are preferred. Teaching or instructional experience in theatre arts is also required. A demonstrated ability to work well with both adults and adolescents is also required.  A positive personality and good communicator is crucial to this position. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check.
