Artistic & Community Liaison

Reports to Artistic Director and Executive Director
Full-time year round

The Belfry is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Artistic & Community Liaison. This is a full-time permanent position.

Working closely with the Artistic Director (AD) and the full Belfry team, the position is responsible for strengthening and expanding the Belfry’s connections to the entire South Island community. The particular focus is on increasing the Belfry’s inclusivity of communities who may not have felt at home in our theatre.

Primary responsibilities:

Provides assistance to AD as required including but not limited to
> Auditions
> Travel 
> Keeping informed on local artists, productions, trends and other activities that may be of interest to the AD and the Belfry.

> Accessible performances coordination and planning

> Community Connections incl. Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria (ICA), CRD, etc.

> Support to the Belfry’s Indigenous Cultural Advisor as requested

> Coordinates Directors’ Circle events & other donor meetings

> Coordination of B4 play guests & host

> Coordinates all Afterplay facilitators & training

> Coordinates Upstage Magazine Content – in conjunction with the Director of Marketing & Communications and the Artistic Director

> Other assigned duties within the scope of competence at the request of the Artistic or Executive Directors

In addition to the Artistic and Executive Directors the position works in on-going collaboration with the Director of Marketing & Communications as well as the Development Director.

Qualifications:  Post-secondary education is required. Candidates with post-secondary education in the performing arts are preferred. Strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to build relationships with a diversity of people is critical to the success of the position. Excellent writing, and communications skills are required.

A solid knowledge of the local, regional and/or provincial performing arts community is a key asset.  While experience working in a professional theatre is not a requirement, it is also a strong asset.

Remuneration for the position is in the $42,000 to $47,000 range contingent on education and experience. A full benefits package after the first 3 months of employment is provided for all full-time employees of the Belfry.
