International Women’s Day – Who is your Shero?
Date posted: February 14, 2023

For the third year running, Kulea Culture Society is pleased to present “Who is your Shero?”
A night to celebrate women with stories, music, poetry and laughter!
The program in 2023 features four fabulous women:
Charlayne Thornton-Joe served as a city councillor for 20 years and is currently the visitor experience and facilities coordinator for the Chinese Canadian Museum—Fan Tan Alley Exhibit.
Sandra Hough has been an educator for over 30 years, and a dedicated community volunteer. She serves as the Vice Chair Accessibility Advisory Committee of Victoria.
Shelley (Shell) Langille is an executive and career coach with over 20 years of experience in coaching individuals and organizations.
Yamila Franco is an educator, and agent of social change and entrepreneurship. She helps build and protect wealth for families and individuals from all walks of life.
The night also features creative talents such as the Cree poet and performer Michelle Poirier Brown, principal oboe from Victoria Symphony Anna Betuzzi, Comedian Julya van der Sloot and musicians and performers Erin Macklem and Anne Schaefer.
We could not have done this without our amazing partners:
Women in Leadership, Bridges for Women, Victoria Arts Council, Belfry Theatre and
Twyla’s Flower Farm and Floristry
As a not-for-profit organization, Kulea Culture Society aims to promote diversity and inclusion through training and cultural events. See https://kuleaculturesociety.org/ for more information.
