Monday 9:30am – 5pm
Tuesday to Saturday 9:30am – 7pm
Sunday one hour prior to show time.

How can I get a taxi?
Our Front of House Manager will be happy to call a taxi for you following the show – the Front of House office is located next to the box office.

Why doesn’t the theatre open sooner than 30 minutes prior to the show?
The Belfry employs members of the Canadian Actors’ Equity Association. Part of our agreement with Equity stipulates that the actors have the stage (to warm up on) up to 30 minutes prior to the show starting. While we always try to open the house 30 minutes prior to curtain, sometimes there are technical problems that need to be addressed prior to opening the house.

Where are the washrooms?
Men’s downstairs (to the left of the entrance to the theatre), women’s off the lobby and wheelchair down the ramp at the south end of the lobby.

What’s the history of the building?
The Belfry was originally the Emmanuel Baptist Church. The lobby was built in the 1880s and served as the chapel until 1892 when the Sanctuary was built (the Mainstage theatre). The Studio A theatre was built in the 1950s and was originally a gymnasium. The Belfry bought the entire building in 1991 and spent over 10 years renovating it.

Can I take my drinks into the theatre?
Yes, you are welcome to take any food or drinks that are purchased at the concession into the theatre. We use plastic cups so that we don’t have to worry about breakage. Please don’t bring non-Belfry food or drinks into the theatre. Please remember to recycle – you’ll find recycling stations throughout the building.

What happens if my friend is late?
Please leave your friend’s ticket with the Box Office. If your friend arrives after the show has started then they will be seated in latecomer’s seating (on the main floor at the back of house left) until intermission. After intermission they can take their original seats.

What happens if I leave my seat during the show?
Patrons who leave during the performance will be reseated in latecomer’s seating until intermission or the end of the show. We prefer to seat you there rather than disturb the whole audience trying to get you back to your original seat.

Where can I park?
We have parking maps available online and at the Box Office. During evening and weekend performances patrons can park for free in the Victoria High School parking lot off Gladstone.

Are ticket prices based on seat location?
No, all ticket prices are based on the day of the week you are attending. Less expensive performances are Tuesdays and Sundays.

Is the Belfry wheelchair accessible?
Yes, both theatres and the lobby are accessible. The ramp is located on the west side of the building. There is a doorbell there to let us know that someone is waiting to come in the building.

Are there seats with restricted views?
Every seat has an unobstructed view of the stage. However, on the very rare occasions that a set design creates an obstruction the Box Office will inform you when you buy your tickets.

Is there a coat check?
A coat rack is stationed inside the lobby or foyer of the Mainstage theatre. You can hang your coats there as you enter the theatre. We assume no responsibility for lost or stolen items.

Is there a lost & found?
Please check with the Front of House Manager for any lost items. The Front of House office is located next to the box office.

Do you sell gift certificates?
You can purchase gift certificates in any denomination at the Box Office. We also have a variety of Belfry and show related merchandise on sale there.
