The Drowning Girls
by Beth Graham, Charlie Tomlinson, Daniela Vlaskalic
MARCH 17 – 21, 2010

"Each was found in her bath; each died of drowning, and each was first discovered by the prisoner." Bow Street Police Court Records
Three brides, three bathtubs, three murders. Emerging from their baths, their wedding dresses dripping, Bessie, Alice and Margaret recount their whirlwind romances with George Joseph Smith. Between July 1912 and December 1914, Smith charmed and seduced his three blushing brides, rescuing them from a lonely spinster’s life, for a price. Visually stunning, The Drowning Girls is funny, sexy and very sharp.
"Theatre at its mesmerizing best…so engrossing, exciting and entertaining, you don’t want it to end" Calgary Sun
"Superbly acted…" Now Magazine
Winner of four Betty Mitchell Awards (Calgary) including Best New Play and Best Production.
