MARCH 9 – 14, 2010

"Everything is so dangerous that nothing is really frightening" Gertrude Stein
A brand new adventure for one of Victoria’s most exciting companies. Fleeing Berlin for London in 1933, Agnes Bernelle, a celebrated actor and cabaret singer, got her first taste of notoriety as a propaganda radio announcer, famously demoralizing a German U-Boat Captain into surrender. This true multi-media pioneer was a lightning rod for controversy on the stage and for her associations with Orson Welles, Winston Churchill and The Rolling Stones. Torn between her past, her family, and her career, Bernelle finally embraced her roots as a cabaret singer, and found true artistry collaborating with Marc Almond, Elvis Costello and Tom Waits.
