Play Submissions

The Belfry Theatre’s mandate includes some original work, but also encompasses previously produced Canadian plays as well as works from the contemporary international repertoire.  We have a lot to choose from!

Following are our play submission guidelines:

We only accept submissions from Canadian writers.

When submitting your play, please include your full mailing address, phone number and email address.

In your cover letter, it would be helpful if you could include some information about the development history of the play, what stage you feel the script is at, whether it has been work shopped and any past or upcoming productions.

A cast breakdown (how many in cast, men/women, any doubling) is also helpful.

If you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your submission we will return your script. Otherwise it will be recycled one month after we have read it and sent you a response via email or letter.

Please submit only one script at a time. If we are interested in receiving more scripts from you, we will request them.

Please be aware of the following:

We receive many scripts every year and it sometimes takes us several months to read them.  We do not provide dramaturgical feedback.
