Over the summer we’ve asked our staff to participate in 40 Questions – a questionnaire we ask the actors of each production to fill in. We thought you would like to get to know the different people who work here.

This time it’s Ann-Bernice Thomas, our Front of House Supervisor / Box Office Clerk.

London, England on my Nana’s bed in my old house.
What did / do your parents do?
My father builds system software and is a computer consultant. My mother has been a social worker and nurse

two older brothers
Where do you live now?
Victoria, BC
Do you speak a second language? What?
a little bit of french, though i lose more and more the longer i stay on the west coast.

gold, red, purple, black

i can’t decide

My white Nike Air Force One’s

What do you do after a show?
I don’t have a post-show regime yet, people keep asking me. I just sit outside and think.
What do you do in your downtime?
More art. puzzles.
First paid acting gig?
2014, a Theatre of the Oppressed show by the ICA, where we worked with the police department to open conversations on police relations with the immigrant community.

i must have been 4 or 5 and I played the Virgin Mary in the school’s nativity play.

not enough
Strangest job you’ve ever had?
I was a door to door aeration sales person, “for just $50 i can poke holes in your lawn!”
If I wasn’t an actor (designer / director / playwright) I would be?
a wedding planner
Best advice someone has given you?
“if you say you know, but you do not do, then you do not know.”

“everyday you wake up, and your day is an empty book. You get to write how your day goes, it’s completely up to you.”

the work i have done to better myself

emotional intelligence, compassion, and wanting to do better and be better

failure. being at the end of my life, looking around, and being unhappy
When do you lie?
when i don’t want to deal with the consequences of the truth, don’t feel like fighting, am trying to buy more time to fix the problem, when i don’t even know it
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
i have enough money to pay rent, do my art, pay my artists, and make a difference in this world. i am loving and loved, and growing and evolving and surrounded by people who make me better. i am free to travel, to experience, to grow and learn and make mistakes in a safe space.
